Details: IT DIRECTOR CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS Meadowmont Building Full-Time, Days The IT Director of Clinical Systems oversees the Information Services Division's (ISD) strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical application solutions in partnership with technical and business leadership, and has accountability for enterprise-wide results. This position reports to the Associate Vice President and Associate Chief Information Officer of the UNC Health Care System. The Director of Clinical Information Systems shall provide leadership and management for the Clinical Information Systems implementation and support teams. The Director's charge is to lead initiatives to provide, build, and maintain the core clinical, ancillary, diagnostic and imaging applications. The Director works in partnership with the Planning Office to manage projects; and in collaboration with the technology leadership for the infrastructure, equipment, and services that meet the needs of the clinical services. The Director of Clinical Information Systems is responsible for all aspects of information technology management and control, including supervision of information technology employees; budget preparation and management; recommendations for information technical solutions; and development of guidelines, standards and procedures. The Director is charged with participating in strategic planning, tactical action, and metric-driven operational decision-making to fulfill the mission of the Health Care System. The Director must possess initiative and drive; have broad relevant technical knowledge with excellent management expertise and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities: Provides leadership, vision, and direction to the Clinical Applications division in support of the business objectives and requirements. Works in conjunction with the Associate CIO and other ISD leadership for the overall design, development/implementation, deployment, maintenance, enhancement, services, and support of applications that support patient care and clinical support services. Scope includes patient care applications, clinical decision support, care management, customer relationship management, diagnostic and imaging data management. Shares responsibility with marketing for clinical applications and customer relationship strategy and management processes. Shares responsibility with the Chief Security Officer for data privacy and security, and works closely with Medical Information Management to support high-quality clinical documentation across the enterprise. Works closely with hospital administration, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health staff and the Office of the CIO to assess and respond to IT needs. Works closely with customers from a strategic perspective to identify and maximize opportunities to improve business processes, promote the strategic use of information technology, and enable the workforce to use technologies as a competitive tool. Holds regular departmental meetings to review strategic goals and initiatives, promote team building and work to provide growth paths for staff. Supervises the ongoing operations of the CIS applications team providing quality and timely support to health system employees. Provides day-to-day supervision, conduct performance appraisals, and delegate work assignments for personnel. Recruits, hires, and provides appropriate training for staff. Plans and administers cost center’s budget in alignment with Health Care System organizational goals, fiscal responsibility and with financial stewardship. Serves on planning and policy-making committees.
